Bird of Paradise (BOP)
The Bird of Paradise is a species of evergreen tropical plant, native to South Africa and thriving across the Tropics including Trinidad and Tobago. These stunning plants, can be seen across the islands. I have keen memories of the birds of paradise lining the roadways to Mayaro, a county and village in Trinidad where my family has roots. They are named for their beautiful, yellow, orange, red and sometimes purple flowers that look like birds of paradise.
